Why should I choose William Blue College of Hospitality Management?
William Blue College of Hospitality Management has built a reputation as one of Australia’s leading providers of hospitality training, and is recognised for teaching excellence.
What are the admission requirements?
In Australia, students need to have attained a UAI score of 60 or above and have completed High School. International students should contact us for advice regarding their qualification equivalency.
Do I need to meet an English ability standard?
If you are an international student, you will be required to provide evidence of your English proficiency. Courses have different entry levels which are outlined in our Entry Requirements section.
If you need to improve your English, you can study here with us at the Billy Blue English Language School.
In some cases, you will also have to meet Australian Immigration Department requirements. Usually, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 academic is required for degree level study and a score of 5.5 academic for Advanced Diploma level.
Is there a minimum age for entry to your courses?
If there is a requirement for you to serve alcohol as part of your course, the minimum age for study is 18.
Is there a maximum age for entry to your courses?
Within Australia and here at William Blue there are no age barriers. However, if you are coming to Australia from overseas, your visa must be approved by the Department of Immigration.
What is the cost?

Do students live on your campus?
No, William Blue is not a residential college.
What services are available on your campus?
There are a variety of student services available to support you in your study, such as library, computer suites, learning support and counselling assistance. All our staff members are here to help you achieve your full potential.
Why would I want to work in the Hospitality Industry?

Is health insurance included?
All overseas students are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) as part of their visa. We can arrange this for you.
How far is the campus from the city?
10-15 minutes by public transport.
How far is the beach from the campus?
Popular beaches are approximately 25 minutes from the campus by public transport.
Can I get a part-time job while studying at William Blue?
Yes. However, it is recommended that consideration be given to the demands of your course of study and the hours that need to be allocated to this to ensure successful completion. Overseas students must apply for a work visa and limit their working time to 20 hours per week.
Is there an industry placement as part of my course?
Most courses do have a paid Industry Placement as part of the course curriculum. William Blue has many industry partners that can offer a variety of positions to suit each individual.
What kind of job will I get after I graduate?
This can vary, but in general terms, graduates successfully gain employment in junior management/supervisory positions within hotel groups.
Can I work in Australia after I have finished my course successfully?
While international students can work in Australia during their industry placements, it is necessary for graduates to apply for permanent residency to live and work in Australia. Formal qualifications help graduates meet the requirements for this application. For visa options, contact the Australian Immigration Department.
What is included in my course of study?
Tuition fees, course material costs, field trips, uniforms and textbooks where noted.
What qualification will I get when I finish?
You will get a nationally recognised qualification.
Do I need an UAI mark to be able to apply?
It is preferable to have a UAI, but if you do not have one, please contact us and we can assess your eligibility a course of study.
Do I need to have studied Hospitality at High School?
No, not necessarily.
When do I need to apply?
You can apply at any time; there is no application deadline.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes. Please contact us to enquire about your eligibility to apply.
Are there any additional costs apart from course fees?
There are no additional costs payable directly to William Blue; however, you will need to budget for living expenses.
Do I need to wear a uniform?
There is a corporate uniform for theory classes, a service uniform for William Blue Dining service and a chef’s uniform when in the kitchen.
How are the classes structured?
The academic year is divided into two semesters or three trimesters. Classes are scheduled in facilities that meet the needs of the course, depending on whether they are theoretical or practical, and there are standard meal breaks. There is also an expectation that a portion self-study is to be carried out with each subject relative to the level of study. The campus operates between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday.
